8 Precautions for Using Infusion Pumps

time2021/09/22

The infusion pump can act on the infusion catheter to achieve the purpose of controlling the infusion speed. This article will specifically introduce the precautions for using the infusion pump.
the precautions for the use of the infusion pump
The infusion pump is an instrument that can accurately control the number of infusion drops and the infusion flow rate, and ensure that the medicine can enter the patient's body accurately and safely at a uniform speed. The infusion pump is a mechanical or electronic control device, which achieves the purpose of controlling the infusion speed by acting on the infusion catheter. The followings are the precautions for the use of the infusion pump.

(1) Special medicines must have special marks, and light-proof infusion pump tubes must be used for light-proof medicines.

(2) In the process of using the infusion pump, the infusion program should be reset every time the liquid is changed. If you need to change the infusion rate during use, press the stop button first, and then press the start button after resetting. Whether it is to drain air bubbles, replace the catheter, or withdraw the infusion pump, be sure to clamp the infusion catheter adjustment clamp first to prevent the infusion from losing control.

(3) Use the corresponding infusion pipeline according to the product description, and replace the infusion pipeline every 24 hours during continuous use.

(4) The selector switch of the infusion set should be consistent with the type of the infusion set. When using a special infusion pump for infusion pumps, the selector switch should be set to the top, pointing to "dedicated". When using an ordinary infusion set, the selector switch should be set to the down, pointing to "Normal". If the position is reversed, it will cause a big error.

(5) Formulate the maintenance cycle of the infusion pump according to the product instruction manual.

(6) Prevent any solid particles from entering the infusion pump body, because dust or any other impurities will wear the plunger, seal ring, cylinder, and one-way valve, so any solid particles in the mobile phase should be removed in advance.

The mobile phase is best distilled in a glass container, and the commonly used method is filtration. Filters such as Millipore membrane (0.2um or 0.45um) can be used. The inlet of the pump should be connected with a sand filter rod (or sheet), and the filter of the infusion pump should be replaced frequently.

(7) When using an infusion pump, be careful to prevent the mobile phase in the solvent bottle from running out, otherwise the empty pump will also wear the plunger, seal ring or cylinder, and eventually cause liquid leakage.

(8) The working pressure of the infusion pump should not exceed the specified maximum pressure, otherwise, it will deform the high-pressure sealing ring and cause liquid leakage.

In addition to the above precautions, we must frequently wipe the infusion pump, keep it clean, and maintain the flexibility of opening and closing the pump door. If you want to know more about the infusion pump after reading the above, you can get a comprehensive solution by contacting us.
